About Our Academy

Mohican Young Star Academy is a Treatment Oriented Private Child Care Facility that can take care of up to 99 adolescent males at the beautiful location in the midst of the Mohican Park in Perrysville, Ohio.

The facility is licensed to provide treatment and care to boys ranging in age from 8-21,  but we are currently accepting boys from ages 12-18.

Emphasis is placed on a compassionate treatment approach that supports the behavioral, physical and emotional health of children and families.

HIGHLY EXPERIENCED TEAM
Our clinical and residential leadership have decades of combined experience working with youth. We use Trauma-Informed Care approaches as well as creative treatment methods, i.e. equine therapy.

STRUCTURE
Our program is one of the most structured in Ohio. We believe that our success in youth’ treatment is attributed to the program structure with clear expectations and standards. Every component is critical: clothing, haircuts, handbooks, phase advancements. Our program’s formula is STRUCTURE – SAFETY – TREATMENT: consistent environment provides youth with the feeling of safety, which then allows them to focus on their treatment.

CULTURE
Our youth groups are built on a concept of therapeutic peer culture. The groups are the microcosms of the society, and we teach youth to function, rationally resolve issues and provide support to each other just like they would in the real-world communities.

ACTIVITIES
 From camping and pontoon-boating in the summer to movie nights, chess tournaments and basketball championships in the winter, our facility provides countless opportunities for positive reinforcement.
