JOB DESCRIPTION:

Mohican Young Star Academy is a proud provider of residential treatment to behavior problem adolescent boys. Our dedicated staff works closely as a team to provide the highest quality of care to each individual. Our campus combines a beautiful setting within Mohican State Park, consistent staff, social learning theory and behavior management to change the negative behaviors of youth that contributed to their placement. The structure, which is the basis of this concept, incorporates limit setting, consistency of routine and overall process of normalization.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred
  • Preferred LPCC, LISW with SUD scope of practice
  • Experience working with male adolescents
  • Experience in providing direct service and treatment to individuals, families and groups
  • Experience with assessing and diagnosing adolescents

Therapist will provide: one-hour daily group counseling, weekly individual counseling, family counseling as needed, mental health assessments, diagnostics and written Individual Treatment Plans and Progress Reports.

Drug and Alcohol Counselor

JOB DESCRIPTION:

At Mohican Young Star Academy, we work with troubled boys, many of whom have addiction issues. We are looking for a dedicated individual who could help us change the youth’s lives through counseling.
Drug and Alcohol Counselor will provide: one-hour daily group counseling, weekly individual counseling, family counseling as needed, AoD / SUD assessments, diagnostics and written Individual Treatment Plans and Progress Reports.

Qualifications:

  • CDCA, preferred LICDC
  • Experience working with male adolescents
  • Experience in providing direct service and treatment to individuals, families and groups
  • Experience with assessing and diagnosing adolescents

Youth Care Specialist

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Mohican Young Star Academy is looking for strong and mission-driven individuals to become superheroes for troubled teenagers adjudicated to receive behavioral treatment in a residential facility.

Our starting rate is $19.50. Depending on experience, you can make as much as $23/hr. And let’s not forget our year-end bonus!

  • Your job is to enforce structure and maintain safety on campus while providing a positive role model for youth to emulate.
  • You may be requested to participate in recreation (hiking, canoeing) and coach athletics (basketball, flag football, softball etc.)
  • Challenging youth’s thinking errors and encouraging and motivating personal growth are an important part of the job.
  • Individuals experienced in deescalating youth in crisis are preferred.
  • You will be required to complete incident reports within a specific time limit.
  • Supervise youth during transportation, appointments, court hearings, home visits, etc.

Qualifications

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age, have HS diploma or GED, pass a criminal background check, medical exam, drug screening, and have a valid Ohio Driver’s License. Must have reliable transportation and should consider the commute to Mohican Park.
